Home Energy Music | A Seed Funded Project

Musician Mhairi Hall and sound artist Karen Mair have worked together to refine and finalise their audio piece ‘Awakening’, an Alliance seed funded project.

The piece was created through a collaborative weaving of household sounds (sounds of various forms of domestic energy and water through innovative techniques) with original music composed by Mhairi to address the project theme, Home Energy Music, with additional recording and overdubbing of music and drones.

The final track has been mixed together with professional engineer Kevin Burleigh at Gorbals Sound, and will be used as the basis for refining a short film, which invites connections to be made between the animate indoor of the household and its use of energy and water, and the animacy of the outdoor environment.
