SUMMARY:Decarbonising Heat Crucible 2025
DESCRIPTION:A Collaborative Approach to Decarbonising Local Communities [Registration now closed]\nThe Decarbonising Heat Crucible is an innovative event designed to support local authorities in decarbonising social housing and other challenging sites. This event aims to bring together three local authorities with diverse resources and needs\, together with a range of experts from academia\, supply chain companies\, technology sectors\, regulators\, planners\, and more. \nWe are running an initial registration of interest as numbers are limited\, and it is important that we have cross-sector representation at the workshop. \n\nWorkshop Details: \n\nDates: 23 – 25 April 2025\nLocation: Double Tree Hilton Hotel\, North Queensferry\nDuration: 3 days (10 am start on day one\, 4 pm finish on day three)\nCost: Free (including room and board)\nRegistration of interest Deadline: 28 February 2023\nConfirmation of place: Week commencing 17 March 2025\nFurther info Contact: Prof. Zoe Shipton and Dr. Jen Dickie at sraehl@st-andrews.ac.uk\n\n\nWorkshop Highlights: \nInterdisciplinary Collaboration: Bringing together researchers from various disciplines (e.g.\, science\, engineering\, social science\, health)\, institutions\, and sectors. \nLocal Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with local authorities\, community organisations\, and industry to co-develop capital funding projects. \nProfessional Grant Writing Support: Attendees will be supported by professional grant writers to develop research opportunities around three nominated sites and areas. By the end of the workshop\, each local authority will have a proposal drafted for capital funding. Academics and other stakeholders will also have drafts for UKRI\, Innovate UK\, Horizon 2020\, and Scottish Government funding for fundamental research and product development\, driven directly by local authority needs and requirements. \nCapacity Building: Academic attendees will represent their home institutions and disciplinary networks\, building consortia for funding applications. \nNetworking Opportunities: Local stakeholders will benefit from developing capital funding proposals\, building a network of academic expertise\, and co-constructing relevant research. \n
