SUMMARY:Financial Pathways to Net Zero Incubator
DESCRIPTION:Scottish Research Alliance for Energy\, Homes\, and Livelihoods hosted its first major event of 2024 at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow. \nThis two-day Financial Pathways to Net Zero Incubator was designed to bring financial industry representatives together with researchers from universities and partners to discuss the question: how can we decarbonise Scotland’s housing and building stock and craft a more sustainable future? \n“Achieving net zero\, in particular a just net zero\, is a monumental challenge that will require cross sectoral collaborations.” said  organiser Dr Sean Field\, “The Financial Pathways to Net Zero incubator in Glasgow marked the first time that the Alliance and the University of St Andrews took a leading role in convening a critical mass of policy makers\, financiers\, academics and civil society partners all working to achieve net zero by 2045.” \nThere are mounting incentives to transition to a low-carbon society. The Scottish Government has set an ambitious goal of reaching net zero by 2045\, there is increasing pressure on financial institutions to decarbonise their portfolios\, and the cost-of-living crisis is putting pressure on households to reduce their net energy consumption. \nThe Incubator marks the first in what will be a series of engagements that will shape the future of net zero research and collaborations in Scotland in the coming years. DESCRIPTION:The Standardisation workshop with supply chain companies and householders will investigate how standardisation in tools and technologies can enable systems integration and address the performance gap between designed systems and real-world performance. In addition to gaps in data collection and standardisation\, problems with the interoperability of hardware and software give rise to performance gaps in homes.
