Financial Pathways Theme Lead

Maria is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance at the University of St Andrews Business School. Her research has increasingly focused on sustainable, climate and biodiversity finance, alongside financial markets and financial stability. A particular area of interest is how financial markets and institutions respond to emerging environmental risks and opportunities, and how financial decisions and investment can contribute to environmental and wider sustainability outcomes.

Maria will focus on bringing together finance researchers and practitioners to explore the practical financing challenges associated with Scotland’s just transition. The aim, to create opportunities for researchers from different disciplines to work alongside policymakers, investors, financial institutions, local authorities, businesses and communities, and to build connections that lead to strong collaborative research proposals shaped by challenges emerging in practice.
