SUMMARY:Emerging Research Leaders Programme
DESCRIPTION:The Emerging Research Leaders Programme is a skills development programme for early career researchers (ECRs). Built around annual training workshops\, the programme aims to support ECRs in developing skills that will increase the impact of their work and enable them to become future research leaders. The programme also offers opportunities for networking\, knowledge exchange\, and collaborative dialogue on one of Scotland’s most pressing issues: forging pathways towards an equitable and sustainable net zero future. \nThe Programme is open to early career researchers of all disciplines affiliated with Scottish Higher Education institutions\, whose research work is aligned with the aims of the Scottish Research Alliance for Energy\, Homes\, and Livelihoods. \nFor this Programme\, we define early career as a PhD student\, a person who completed their PhD less than seven years ago\, or a PhD holder yet to secure first permanent job appointment (with no time limit since completion of the PhD). \n Media Engagement Workshop!\nDate: 27 – 29th January 2025\nLocation: The Burn\, Edzell \nFollowing the success of our inaugural three-day Policy Engagement workshop in January 2024\, we are delighted to open applications for our next workshop! \nThe 2025 workshop will be delivered in collaboration with Scottish Media Training and will focus on Media Engagement. \nExpert trainers from Scottish Media Training will facilitate learning aimed understanding the media landscape\, generating media interest\, developing an effective media profile\, and conducting highly effective and engaging media interviews. The sessions will include theory and discussion about various media platforms\, reflecting on the significant evolution of the media over the past century and the importance of clear and impactful key messages. We will then engage in practical activities to develop skills in writing press releases and conducting a variety of live\, pre-recorded\, and group interviews\, putting learning into practice. \nWe welcome applications from Early Career Researchers from a wide range a disciplines – from hard and social sciences to humanities – across all of Scotland’s Higher Education Institutions. \nAPPLY HERE\nApplications close on 8 January\, 5:00pm. \nHere is what some of the Emerging Research Leaders had to say about the 2024 workshop: \n‘Over the course of the ERLP workshop\, I have gained a better understanding of ‘impact’ through the lens of public policy engagement.’  \n‘It’s been invaluable being in this collaborative space\, and it’s enabled to see both my strengths for policy engagement\, and next steps.’ \n‘This has been an excellent experience.
