Dr Andrew Sudmant
Financial Pathways Theme Co- Lead
Andrew leads research on the co-benefits of climate action at the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute at the University of Edinburgh, is a member of the Priestley International Centre for Climate, an Associate of the ESRC Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy, and is Director of Your Climate Strategy.
Andrew’s research focuses on the way a transition to a net zero society contributes to and conflicts with wider socioeconomic challenges society is facing. The social impacts of achieving the UK Government’s 6th Carbon Budget, for example, are found to be approximately 6 times larger than the cost of action. Andrew’s work also explores the challenges of realising a more interdisciplinary field of urban research.
