Dr Faye Wade
Sustainable Households Theme Co-Lead
Faye is a Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. Faye applies sociological approaches to the networks of people responsible for creating a more sustainable built environment. Faye is developing research into skills and expertise for creating and supporting low-carbon homes. This includes formal skills development amongst professionals crucial to the low carbon transition, like heating engineers, and working with young people to understand the development of our future workforce.
Faye’s consideration of skills also extends to the less formal skills that community members might develop for sharing and disseminating knowledge about low-carbon households. Faye’s previous work has included a detailed ethnography of heating engineers, an evaluation of the Scottish Government’s national scale retrofitting programme, Energy Efficient Scotland, and a social network analysis of supply chains for building retrofit.
