Ian has worked in climate and environmental research for over 15 years in think tank, consultancy, and academic settings. Prior to joining Changeworks, Ian was the director of the MSc programme on Climate Change Finance and Investment at the University of Edinburgh Business School and led the development of the finance and investment programme at the Pars-based think thank the Institute for Climate Economics (I4CE).

Ian’s expertise is aligned with the focus of the Alliance, looking at climate change policy and investment-related issues, including barriers to energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation investment, the role public finance in the low-carbon transition, and the mobilisation of private capital and investment. In his role at Changeworks, a Scotland-based charity / social enterprise, he works to accelerate the decarbonisation of homes through targeted services to accelerate delivery as well as research, dissemination and influencing activities to help shape the retrofit ‘ecosystem’.
