Prof Zoe Shipton

Alliance Funder Liaison

Zoe is a Professor of Geological Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, where she collaborates with scientists, engineers, and social scientists to deliver subsurface solutions for the energy transition. Her core geological expertise covers the structural and permeability architecture of fault zones and their effects on fluid flow and earthquakes.

Her recent geological engineering research includes novel methods of engineering the rock mass within boreholes, inter-seasonal energy storage in flooded mineshafts, and new processes for capturing carbon during rock pulverisation. She also works with social scientists on constraining uncertainty in geological models and the language used to communicate geological ideas to end-users.
