Dr Ashley Lyons

Lecturer at the University of Glasgow

Ash is a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow and Proleptic Lecturer in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Glasgow. He is based within the university’s multi-disciplinary Advanced Research Centre as part of the Extreme Light research group.

His primary research interests are in the areas of quantum sensing and imaging, together with novel methods for computational imaging with single photon detectors. Some of his recent work has shown how time-of-flight information can be used for quantum-inspired LiDAR and microscopy and imaging through highly scattering media such as biological tissues.

Ash is also the lead of the SFC’s Alliance for Research Challenges in Quantum Technology, along with Dr Sam Bayliss.
